This is Halloween! Amigurumi Pumpkin

I just love the month of October, Halloween and the smell of Autumn in the air. Fat round pumpkins, gourds, and squash, can be found everywhere along with delicious apples! The smell of warm cinnamon is enough to make any house smell like one of most wonderful places. I've recently been very into Amigurumi, which is the Japanese word for knitted or crocheted stuffed animals or anthropomorphic creatures.

I started crocheting years ago, my mother taught me how. She's amazing what she makes, scarves, warm afghans, and ponchos. I never really had the patience to keep up with stitch count back then. I guess it just took me time to slow down.  This is a little Jack o'lantern I made and have  named Little Cinderella! I am hoping to make white or cream colored friend for Little Cinderella named Lumina. I can't wait to go to the Pumpkin Patch and pick out beauty for this year. I think my Halloween costume might be a bit Pumpkin inspired too we shall see!

Now for the pattern:

Well the Results are in....

I worked very hard for "Play with Clay" challenge on Instructables. I made two entries of which one was featured my "How to 80s style Earrings" and a second entitled "Glamorous Plumeria /bracelet made from polymer clay." I did not make it into the final rounds of the competition but, I did enjoy competing. I really like how glamorous this piece actually came out. I was very nervous about using myself as a model. I think it would be a lovely wedding piece of jewelry for any bide after I finished making it, which was a side thought after final completion.

My current projects have been focused mostly on Amigurumi , Japanese style of crochet for making tiny plush toys.  I have made an invincibility star, elephant, teddy bear and currently hard at work on  a "My little Pony: Friendship is Magic" piece. The Star was fun to make the pattern is not mine I found it here .My camera broke on my birthday, in September. working on trying to get funds together to continue sharing my ideas and pieces with my tiny corner of the world. I'm also very busy with trying to my body back in shape at the moment! That's all for quick update at the moment.

A Trip to Georgia

Miss Mad Hatter in watercolor pencil by Sorianna Choate
I recently traveled to Georgia, to visit my Husband's family for the past week. It was a great trip filled with warm family love, pumpkin butter and cinnamon rolls. It started with a trip to visit the fabulous Heather Ozee, my wonderfully talented cousin, her husband and her amazing two girls Roxy and Isabel. We played arts and crafts all day and my puppy Tor romped with the girls as well. I had a chance to test out watercolor pencils, it was love at first brushstroke. Also Heather had the house decorated for Halloween, one of my favorite holidays! I did this quick sketch after talking about Miss Roxy's upcoming birthday party. I really liked how easy the pencils were to use. Also Alice in Wonderland is great theme for any party! My talented cousin runs a shop on Etsy, a blog and here's her Facebook page Heather Ozee Designs.

Pretty Purple Tiara by Sorianna Choate and Kayla Porter

After spending the day with them we headed up to Suwanee, to my mother in law's for barbecue and some football. As always the food was amazing! My sister in law and I started on our crafting odyssey. I worked out the kinks in my next how to project which I will attempt to finish this weekend. I made a lovely purple tiara for her, I learned how to crochet a granny square, baked chocolate chip cookies  and made cinnamon rolls. It was a blast I visited with my amazing half brother Shane and his step mom Marcia! I was surprised with early birthday cake by my mother in law, it was delicious! I also partook in daily tea as well. Notes on the tiara, this was combined effort of my sister in law, Miss Kayla and I, she helped make roses with me and placed them after I finished all the wire work, Its good to be home, though I enjoy visiting family I wish I had more time. My husband was there too I promise! He got in some great naps and play time with all the little fuzzies!

Family Christmas, Hattiesburg, MS 2005
On a side note today would have been my father's 51st birthday, I miss him dearly. I would like to think he's relaxing on a beach right now with the moon right over him, his fishing pole in his hands, with great a big smile on his face. Also good music playing the background

As always, dream big! Remember to tell those you love that you love them.

Here's to the weekend!

It's been a very productive week here at my tiny corner of creative space. I enjoyed every moment of the magic. A short recap, Project Candy is in full swing, I should have earrings completed soon to show off the first part! I made a small earring pattern and sculpted plumeria hair pins.

Now for today's crafting, I spent some time making some rather large statement feather earrings as pictured to the left. The longest feather is 8 inches. I used natural feathers for a more native, bohemian look. These earrings are nice and flashy as well.

Another style I attempted was Peruvian String Art. Those came out really well, though my photo does not give do them justice. These where a challenge to make but I am very pleased with the outcome! The Steam punk mask sketch is going well. I'll be able to post something on that soon.

Other than that I had a great day with my puppy and my husband . I got new color thread for tatting. I was missing red and burgundy two of my personal favorite colors. Tomorrow I'll photographing Project Candy and tatting. Sunday I'll be at the beach I hope! Also I'm going to start a piece for Aunt's silent Auction that her church holds every year. This is something I really wanted to do and haven't made time for in the past.

See ya Soon

Project Candy and Tackling A New Pattern.

Today was a good productive day I finally got my box of feather supplies organized and under control. I also stated sculpted some cupcakes and bows for Project Candy. One of her favorite colors is pink these are first set of cupcakes I've made they have not been glazed yet. I plan making few more designs and tatting some lace work. I decided to start with earrings first. I'm working on putting together another simple small motif pattern for them.

Other things I worked on during the day today were tackling Totusmel's scarf pattern. Its not difficult pattern its just time consuming I really want to come out nice looking. I first attempted this sock yarn it well was pretty rough looking. I found some Patons Silk Bamboo the color is
is called Orchid. I really like this yarn so far its nice and satiny. That's all for today I'll have more on Project Candy tomorrow. I am hoping to put a how to craft project together. Till next time
Happy Crafting.

Sprite Dust and Pink Pearls

So here they are after missing out on great sunlight for photos, I didn't want to wait to post them, I'll take better photos for my Etsy. I'm having one of those klutzy days where I seem to be tripping over my own feet. I spilled my supplies, nearly face planted in the parking lot, misplaced my camera with two minutes of setting it down.

I've had these little bottles sitting in my supply box for at least a year. I filled them my favorite own homemade Sprite dust, recipe will be below. It has a lovely floral scent to it. I've just always loved fairies. I have a collection of beautiful figurines given to me by my family. Each bottle has a hand sculpted rose, leaves and brass butterfly. On the top are tiny blue beads and pearls , they reminded me of fairy baubles.

Homemade Sprite Dust Bath Salt.
2 cups Bath salt
1 tsp glitter
7 drops blue soap coloring
2 drops Plumeria Fragrance
2 drops Apple Fragrance
1 tsp olive oil

In a large bowl combine all the ingredients and mix thoroughly. Then put into a beautiful bottle and give as a gift or keep for your own uses.

Now on to the Tatting! I made a simple very Basic Tatting pattern for these Pink Earrings. I like how it came out. I made these by experimenting. I'm still at the very basic level of tatting but playing around is fun.

Little Princess Motif for Earrings

Materials

size 5 tatting needle
small crochet hook
10 crochet cotton

Leave a decent length sized tail, maybe about 1ft.

Start your Ring with a Josephine chain of 70 and close the ring and reverse your work.
then start the next Ring with 4 double stitches , 1 picot , 4 double stitches, close and hide end threads. Then just embellish with beads and you have really simple tatted earrings.

For short hand

R Jospehine ch 70, cl, rw
R 4 ds, 1p, 4 ds, cl
Hide ends.

I hope that was not too confusing for anyone to understand! Have a Happy 4th of July Tomorrow and be safe! Tomorrow I will be posting my Dream catcher earrings and launch Project Candy.

Happy Crafting!

Feathers and Roses

So I've been away for several months, but fear not I'm finally back and ready to roll. So much has happened in the past couple of months, I moved in with my in laws. Its taken quite a bit of time to get settled and adjusted. During the past few months I took time to get my life a bit in order, though its still a wonderful chaotic mess, I started a garden, took up exercising, learned to make sushi and pasta from scratch. Let my muse take a nice long hiatus so she could get some rest and my creative functions would return to me revived. I also had the chance to sculpt some new roses I started sculpting plumeria, frangi pani flowers. They are still a work in progress.

Other projects I have been experimenting with are earrings and needle tatting. For years I never wore earrings. Now I'm suddenly in love with them. I added a few new pairs to my Etsy shop. They were fun to make, I hope to add more fun and unique styles with really bright colors. I also getting into added small elements from sculpting to my earrings as well. The earrings pictured above are an example. I sculpted the mini roses and attached them to the brass settings. I named those "The Queen's White Roses" after the White Queen in "Alice Wonderland." These feather earrings are just so much fun to wear. I like how light they feel when you wear them. Also the color possibilities are endless I learned to make from Craftovision (just click on Craftovsion for a link to the tutorial.) Corrine's Tutorial is really easy to follow and is fun. The Craftovison website is a great community of crafter's who share work and their tutorials. I find as great place to share ideas and read up on what others in the DIY community are up too. These earrings are my own version of the what Corine did.

Well that's all for now! My next post will be about an update on my needle tatting. Till next time Happy Crafting
