Valentine's Day Gift Box

Finally after what felt like the longest week ever in photo editing and writing my new project is complete. I came up the gift box by using a tutorial on making an exploding box. Exploding boxes are photo albums contained in a box. The paper bow is not my original design, but I really like making them. I am not sure who came up with style of bow. Love and Memories

Well  is Valentine's Day coming around the corner. Stores have aisles  packed with teddy bears and chocolates. Roses can be seen everywhere. Its a plethora of pink, red,  and white everywhere. Time for me to be sneaky too. I always try to get little happy for my mom and sister like a chocolate bar or something handmade. Its fun to surprise the ones you love with handmade gifts. I also always enjoy spending the day with my husband.

Our first Valentine's Day after we got married  he told me I could finally get a dog. After few weeks of searching we welcomed Tor into the family. The second one we went out for dinner he surprised me flowers and chocolates. I might just try surprise him this year. I sent love note to hopefully be published in Folio Weekly here. I'll have to put my thinking cap on.

In the photo is my newest creation,a large clay heart with roses in honor of the Holiday. Its set with glass hearts and silver chain and a toggle.

Sequins and Bows

Very recently, I stopped by the MarthaStewart.com. I occasionally peruse the craft section for projects see to what's new. I like taking bits of projects and learning new skills or techniques.

I came across a project for sequin covered wooden beads [here]. This project I wanted to try immediately. I found the strung sequins for a dollar and I all ready had other jewelry making supplies for these earrings.

Something Personal...

My Grandfather, last year in December was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. I made this necklace as way to express my hope. Often times when my feelings are confused or just all over the place I turn to art. It helps fill a void where words often cannot.

I'm very sad about my Grandfather and hopeful at the same time.  It feels so unfair, but in the end all I can do is be present and love him everyday. I spent Christmas day with him, it was wonderful. I have so many wonderful memories of my Grandfather I treasure each one like gold. My father told us as children he never really got the chance to know his grandparents. I am thankful for him keeping them in my life.

Butterflies for Cosplay

I love getting requests for pieces to be made, December was defiantly was a month for special orders. My friend Candace made a request for butterflies. She is an avid Cosplayer and talented artist. The butterflies are hair accessories for Cosplay.

The butterflies I made are sculpted from Fimo polymer clay. The wings are translucent. It took me a few tries to find a method that worked. My first idea was based loosely on making the pieces fit together.
